Nearly every time I drive down Seawall with an out of town guest they ask me why these buildings are not being taken care of better. Often times I hear, "Certainly that great piece of property right on the beach can be fixed up!?"
GHF has been concerned about the welfare of the remaining Fort Crockett buildings for some time. In fact, we have had them on our Heritage at Risk List for the past few years. As you will read in the article, GHF has little power to force the owners hand to maintain the properties but we can help to build awareness for preserving this part of our Island's History.
