When: 11:30-1:00, Thursday, July 21
Contact matthew.pelz@galvestonhistory.org to reserve your spot.

MechoShade Systems presents an AlA/CES "over lunch" discussion of daylighting fundamentals and why sustainable design provides HSW credit. The program is typically of interest to architects, interior designers, lighting designers, and mechanical engineers. Please encourage all to attend. If your firm retains lighting designers and MEP's as consultants, let us know who they are and we will invite them to join us for lunch.

MechoShade Systems’ message is simple: daylighting creates a more comfortable and productive environment for end users, and automated shade systems preserve and maintain the design intent of elevations (both exterior and interior). By helping to connect interior architecture to its site, natural light creates the time of day and the mood of the season. The moderation of daylight reveals the design intent of materials.

Successful day-lighting strategies, address:
. Heat gain
. Glare
. Creature comfort
. Dealing with variation in light levels, and. direct beam penetration into architecture

When motorized shade systems are automated and seamlessly integrated with light control systems, both can be interfaced with building and energy management systems to create significant savings. MechoShade Systems cites several highly LEED rated projects as case studies of systems integration. We will also review the NY Times Building daylighting case study as well as the Hess Tower in Houston which is under installation now.

Lunch will be offered. We look forward to giving the presentation and seeing all of you!
