It's a Wreck






















Since Cabeza de Vaca's misfortunes in 1528, the waters surrounding Galveston Island have been claiming counless ships. On January 1, 1863, Confederate forces reclaimed the town during the Battle of Galveston, which was primarily a naval altercation. Texas A&M University Galveston has performed extensive studies on the wreck of the Denbeigh a Civil War blockade runner.
